Our clients have a
lovely farm close to our shop in which they
wanted to build a big gambrel barn. Their
future plans for the farm include small
cottages and a large pavilion to serve as a
retreat for groups. The traditionally joined
white oak barn would be the anchor point.
Guest quarters are in the "loft" with
storage for equipment below. One of the
sheds is a large porch that overlooks the
rolling pastures and woods. Our plans
included traditional "gunstock" posts (named
for the shape of a rifle) for the main
barn's side walls. With a dark green
standing seam metal roof and a copper roofed
cupola perched on top, the look fits exactly
what the owners were searching for.
